Let’s talk about when you are just point blank, “burned out”. You may not feel as though you’re contributing as much as you want in your business… or you feel burned out because you’re doing the MOST!
Regardless of the reason, I think we can all agree that over the past years, times have changed dramatically. It has become increasingly challenging for business owners as well as the staff and teams that you support.
But before we start our pity party, let’s talk from a more tactical perspective…
What does it mean when your team is still around but dragging you down (aka retention woes)?
These days, people are quitting their jobs or starting off on new ventures at a rapid pace… and with the increase in social media, the desire to become an entrepreneur is increasing. But what happens when you still have employees that are straight up dragging your business down, and not working to their full potential, and dragging your KPIs (key performance indicators) down?!
Not everyone is struggling… how can you make sure you’re heading in the right direction?
Whether you have a strategic advisor (have we chatted!?), it’s imperative now more than ever that you have a feedback loop or a process for every aspect of your business. You need it!
To create feedback, ask questions, have surveys, and do things that you might not necessarily want to do to be the most productive for your business.
One aspect of this is to do less and train more- whether staff or external assistance!
By doing this you can better understand:
- What the issues are in the business
- What needs to be done
- What needs to change
- Staff concerns and hidden feelings
TBH, UNADRESSED COMMUNICATION GET’S WORSE! (sorry I’m shouting now… this is a pervasive issue in our society and only hurts in the current business climate. We need to be better friends!)
Not addressing your business issues or needs is arguably the worst thing you can do for your company. It will only get worse and build up if their is no communication on both sides, but ESPECIALLY with you as the owner and main communicator.
Now, I know what you may be thinking… “KK, I own a small business. My margins are already tight, and I have very little time to do it all far less for focusing on growth.”
Good news! You really can do a lot with a little! I’ve helped countless business owners to do just that successfully.
Whether you have external support or not (again, have we chatted?!), make the effort to find the wins, even with the toughest aspects of the business such as staffing woes!
Believe it or not, studies show that when HR measures what employees most desire, compensation isn’t even the most important factor… In fact, employees want to be HEARD and feel like they’re apart of something. They want to feel valued and respected. By having a feedback loop, the employees feel like they’re apart of something.
You need a team to support you! When you have actionable support, you can do the small and consistent things needed to help improve profit margins and overall business growth.
Using methodical approaches to your business ensuring there is structure to your sales, marketing, and operations will not only relieve some burdens, it will slowly but surely set you up for more success, really!
So, are you ready to GROW?! Let’s talk about it… I’m here for YOU!
To grow and thrive should never be left up to chance… it’s the result of your hard work and tenacity! -KK FIT TIP #2299
